Database Administrator – Maintains databases used by The Principle Foundation for donor management and grant administration. September 27, 2018.

General Description

Our work is a combination of individual contributions, collaborative teamwork, and inspired spiritual insight. Because we are a small staff, there is need for both breadth of knowledge and specialization based on the strengths of the individual team members. All staff members take calls and participate in processing grant cases. All staff contribute to the administrative and housekeeping tasks associated with a small office.

Database Administrator

Job Type: Full-Time   Location: Kansas City   Salary Range: $50K‑$65K   Start Date: Immediate

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintains eTapestry database including:
    • Entering data.
    • Creating fields as needed to support use of database as both a donor database and grant management system.
    • Defining and communicating data entry standards.
    • Documenting workflows and standards.
    • Providing training and ongoing support to the office staff.
    • Reconciling grants with disbursements.
    • Reconciling grant data (eTapestry) with accounting data (Quickbooks).
    • Developing and implementing systems to ensure ongoing data integrity.
    • Defining and generating queries and reports to support internal and external communications.
    • Advising on correct and incorrect use of data based on assumptions that underlie queries.
    • Improving integration of database with Word, Excel, Constant Contact, and Gmail.
    • Exploring additional capabilities of the software to improve the quality and/or efficiency of our work; e.g., end-user website interface, integrated online payment services, etc.
  • Manipulates data at a high level of proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Develops database applications in Zoho Creator or similar custom application builder.

Qualifications

  • Membership in The Mother Church required.
  • Branch church membership expected.
  • Class instruction in Christian Science preferred.

Basic Requirements

  • Sincere practice of Christian Science with desire to help others.
  • Radical reliance on Christian Science both within and outside of the office.
  • Discretion, integrity, and morality both within and outside of the office.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent business writing.
  • Strong computer skills – word processing, spread sheets, database (data entry and reports).
  • Numeracy – working with numbers and interpreting financial data.
  • Excellence orientation – high standards of performance, follow-through, attention to detail, etc.
  • Teamwork and initiative – desire to collaborate, share work, and assume new responsibilities.

Professional Skills

In addition to the specific Database Administrator job requirements, significant professional experience in at least one of the following areas is also required:

  • Event planning, program management, and/or volunteer coordination.
  • Public speaking, training, consulting, facilitation, or OD.
  • Writing, graphic design, and/or video editing – websites, print media, infographics, video.
  • Healthcare policy – insurance, government, and/or legal.
  • Non-profit accounting, law, or management.
  • Data analysis, evaluation, and/or qualitative research.
  • Highly proficient in web development tools including widgets, plugins, payment services, email marketing tools, and CSS. HTML and PHP desirable.
  • Information technology – application development (software) and/or PC & network maintenance (hardware). Python desirable.
